Soo Line Redevelopment District
The Soo Line Redevelopment District is located on the northeast side of the downtown area. It was originally created by the Redevelopment Authority in 1997. The purpose was to support the redevelopment of the area by purchasing properties in order to add vital infrastructure, and to then sell them to developers in order to pave the way for further redevelopment. Tax Increment District #7 was created to support these efforts.
The Soo Line Redevelopment District is now home the TrustPoint Building at 7 S. Dewey and parts of the Chippewa River State Trail. The former Huebsch Laundry site is currently owned by a private developer and is planned for residential development.
