Half Moon Lake Redevelopment District
The Half Moon Lake Redevelopment District began in the 1980’s when the city purchased 10 residential properties along the east bank of the lake. This was done in order to redevelop the area into a more commercial part of the city. This would later become the official district under the Redevelopment Authority (RDA). The Redevelopment Authority went on to acquire more parcels for the sake of renewing the area. Introductions of utilities and other amenities were made possible thanks to the RDAs actions. The Half Moon Lake Redevelopment District is directly responsible for the creation of the Lakeshore Elementary School, one of the most popular Elementary Schools in the area.
